Oh, Annie, I loved this! And not just because it brought me back to my own childhood growing up in New England (Vermont). I visited Maine often (Boothbay Harbor among other places) and still have family there (Jonesboro). It's a beautiful state! And your story was delightful--can't wait to make the Haddock Casserole. "Chowder is the basic black dress..." ❤️ Cheers. ~cjp
Love the jellyfish fishing episode. Brings back two jellyfish memories—one, stepping on a tentacle in the sand as a kid and getting a stinging rash, and two, trying to dissect one in a biology class in high school (the parts were pretty indistinguishable!). My other memory is of my mother’s haddock—I don’t think I loved it—it was too plain for my taste—but I’d can like to try your recipe, assuming I can find haddock in LA!
'Sensational jellyfish recipe' sounds like rather an oxymoron! 🤣 Thank you, though, for sharing the haddock recipe. I had a substitution of some white fish (in this case, cod) for the salmon I'd ordered in a recent grocery delivery - and surprise myself at how absolutely delicious the resulting cod mornay was! I don't cook white fish very often - but that grocery delivery experience AND your post has got me adding cod and haddock to my orders on a regular basis!
Love how your mom describes chowder as the "basic black dress".
Right? A clever truth!

Jonesboro! You’re a true Downeaster!
I’m trying to conjure what a good jellyfish recipe would even be!!!
Thanks for the shoutout ~ I will miss your presence this September on retreat.
I’ll zoom in!

Good luck with that, my friend. It’s my go-to fish but so far, I’ve only found it in New England.
I have a pic with you AND a coffee basket!!

You have reminded me that I need to make that recipe again! Yum:) Love the pictures! I have a coffee basket picture too!
Love Haddock!
I’ll keep trying—perhaps frozen.
