Amie, I loved this! I read it early this morning, way early, and it was the perfect accompaniment to my first cup of coffee. I feel like I know your mom. Her chronicles are so open and funny. It's the most marvelous thing that you have her art and writings. What a treasure.
Minute Maid frozen orange juice! Discontinued! What?! That was a staple in my childhood home. I remember the icy crystals on the frozen juice when my mom would scoop it out of the cardboard-y container with a spoon. She used that and Minute Maid frozen lemonade as the base for all sorts of non-alcoholic beverages.
Your mom's recounting of the singles dance was top drawer. I chuckled. A lot.
Your End Notes struck a note with me. Wait! I thought, Wait! What untold stories does Amie have?! Runaway? You liked Starsky and Hutch! Black and white TV. No babysitter. The stuff childhood was made of. Jim and I talked about that show a couple of days ago. Who was the blond one who had one hit on the top 40? I don't remember, but I thought those two were dreamy, and Jim only watched it for their car.
I can't wait to read about the wedding. P.S. One can never have too many exclamation points. 😁
This made my day! We're going to some family gatherings soon. Now I want to make punch. My mom used to make the best punches when I was growing up. Our house was always full of people. She showed me how to feed a crowd, clean a house, and social skills. I miss her.
Thank you! Happy Easter/Passover! Sending you a giant hug from me and Luna. ☀️🙏💛🐶
What a fun story.
And for those who are so inclined you can make your own frozen juice concentrate. https://miradessy.substack.com/p/how-to-make-homemade-frozen-juice
Wow! I had NO idea this was a thing!
The best part is now you can make your own flavor combinations.
I’m so sorry about Kimber. What a sweet face.
This made me smile today. Thank you, Amie, and that punch recipe looks yummy. Kimber, you cutie pie. Hugs to you, Amie.
nothing punctuates like an exclamation mark‼️
Amen, sister❕❕❕
Love the use of the word “icky” !

The Top 40! Another walk down memory lane.
Very fun story.
No more frozen lemonade in cans! I grew up on that. How nice to have your mom's memory of that particular night along with your own.

Now you’re motivating me to host a gathering and demo the punch, Shauna! Our mothers would definitely approve.
