Amie, This story is brilliant. I was laughing because Jack reminds me so much of my dog Kole. He was a black lab mix. I recall one afternoon when Jeff placed an entire sub on the table turned his back for maybe 2 sec and it was gone. There was Kole licking his lips with not a crumb in sight! I warned Jeff...but he didn't believe me until this happened. We still joke about it. We miss him so much. Thank you for the recipe. :)
I absolutely love the story of Jack the 100% chow hound and your mom’s drawings of him! It makes me miss a little brown and white rescue we once had called Jasper. He was kind of our son’s doggy brother and lived in eternal expectation of dinner scraps and cooking accidents. After almost 20 years I miss him still!
My vet always said my previous dog, Pepe, was a human on four legs. He was a character. My husband thinks I should write a book about him. Maybe some day. He was my first dog. He was so special.
What fun and perfect recipe for the fall. Thanks, Amie.
Wonderful - and delicious - words, Amie! 😊
Oh my...can't get enough of your mom's writing. I am already in love with Jack, and laughed out loud reading this one.
Jack reminds me of my beloved 💯 chow hound Olive ~ her appetite knew no bounds, and neither did my love for her ~ oh the ways I miss her so ... . ..
Yeah, Jack! Life is a little better with furry friends! This recipes looks delicious!

I always laugh at how fast a dog can move when it comes to food...
HA! It sure is. Ninja fast! :)
I loved getting to read about Jack from both of you!

Canines make the best kitchen clean-up crews, right?
I love the story about Jack! He is almost as spoiled as our dogs.
He had such a personality!
