I love the image of your maman trying to teach your papa how to pronounce croissant so he wouldn’t embarrass her at Café Bla-Bla. (Was there really a Café Bla-Bla?) Fast food has taken over the world, and there are some pretty horrible croissants out there, as well as bad French pronunciations. But I’ve also come across some good classes for learning how to make croissants. But frankly, I’d rather sample some in Quebec or Paris! Lovely post, Amie!💕

Yes, Ruth, there really was a Cafe Bla-Bla. After a half century, I believe it closed during the pandemic.

I hear McDonald’s is bringing back their bagels. Please know that I’ve never had a McDonald’s bagel nor will I ever.

I must admit to enjoying fast food, but what I really want is a personal chef, so I can have great slow food that I didn't prepare from time to time 🤣. These fresh veggie recipes look delicious. I'm going to see if I can get my vegetarian-leaning daughter to help me make these next week!

Italy is very big on croissants but (of course) refuse to call it that. There might be differences in the dough, but to the untrained eye and mouth (a.k.a. me) it sure looks and tastes like a croissant! They call them brioches though, which is even more confusing since a brioche is something else entirely in my book. Don't bring that up with them either, because they 100% will start an argument.

This made me laugh! And the whole thing with the brioche? What the…what?? 😂

Truly, same. I have to write a scorching burn piece about it sooner or later, because every time I encounter a 'brioche' in the wild here I lose it a little bit more

I have yet to meet a kale recipe I don't like. Horseradish is such an interesting touch! I'll have to try it.

Karyl was certainly ahead of her time! And I echo her every word!

She would be cringing at the disaster the American food industry has become.

But thank you for keeping her sentiment alive!

(and I am glad there was NO croissant recipe- they are FAR too intimidating! And I am always game to try anything once!)
