The greatest joys of my mostly retired Maine life were an office where MY black toy poodle soulmate could sleep by my desk all day, and an end to recording my days in six-minute billable intervals. My soulmate lives on with me in spirit, and the days of time slips are solidly in the past. Thank you as always for sharing such poignant memories.
I can't decide who writes better - you or your mom. You both have a way with words that place me right there with you. Your stories always evoke my own fond memories. So many corollaries with the beaches of the Great Lakes in Michigan where I grew up, and continue to spend my summers and holidays. Thank you for sharing.
I've always loved the chatty, newsy stories your Mom would tell. I can see the cove (I've been there!) and feel the walk down to Gus' for a bite and most likely, more stories. You are keeping her alive for all of us, thank you for the sweet nostalgia.
It’s been a joy getting to know you after all these years, Kathy. Thanks for sharing your treasured memories of my mum and the island with me this summer.
Oh, I loved this. I love your mom and her heart. ❤️ "Just now, the tide has filled the cove . . . " what a great first line for a novel, or autobiography, or biography, of your mom or your family or you. Such treasure in such lovely words.

A lovely sentiment, Cathy. Seems like we both have found our way home.

You’re so kind to say this. I always feel that if the reader can relate, then the writer has done their job!
Tearprickingly, goosepimplingly gorgeous, Amie. A sheer delight of a read from start to finish. ❤️
Thanks for reading!

Such a moving letter from your mother and wise reflections from you—always a great read, Amie.
“We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn.” Not sure who said this, but it sure sums up my life as of late!

I continue to uncover a wealth of stories…slowly working their way into something much larger!
How lovely! Can't wait to see/read what happens . . .
Delightful view of California from your mother's letter. She was a witty and wise treasure
I’m so grateful for all the treasures she left behind 🥹
Loved reading this.
What a sweet letter.
What a wonderful tale. This totally brightened my morning and I look forward to reading more.
Happy to hear this; more joy to come!
