Another heart- and heartwarming story collab, Amie. That plumber and little girl Amie come to life—a perfect winter tale! And the casserole with the “quality white bread” sounds yummy! Merry Christmas!
"Let loose on the landscape, his long fur waving black across a field now frosted with snow, Jack was a Christmas card in motion." Oh my goodness, what exquisite prose. I love your mom. I love her writing about you as a child, and love even more that you vividly remember what seems from where I sit, a wonderful childhood of resilience and love and security. Very Merry Christmas, Amie & Karyl. May you always be as warm as you would like to be. ❤️🎄
Glad this little memory made its way into your heart, Mary. Karyl sure has a way of capturing the treasured moments of so long ago. Best to you and Jim (and hip guy).
Amie, This story made my day. Thank you for sharing as always— light and joy! I'm so grateful I get to read your work. How cute that you wrote letters to the plumber and that he took the time to respond. This is magical. Happy holidays to you and yours and sending extra light and love your way.
I cooked too much! Husband wanted prime rib, so I made that. Kids don't like it so I had some ham for them (pea soup in the near future!). Same sides for all but I had too many! I try to keep everyone happy but never learn.

Another beautiful collaboration, Amie! I love your mom's drawing of the house. She is a master of line and detail!
This is too delightful. I love the image of a little girl dropping notes on a string to her new plumber friend, who patiently replies to each one.
And I'm happy to echo the sentiment of Vicki Smith, about the wonderful illustrations 😊
Dropping you a note throw the cracks in the virtual floorboards to thank you for reading and enjoying Cook & Tell!

Thanks, Amie😁. Hope hip guy is good, too! Hope to run into him soon!
What a delightful story! I love that sketch of your house! A different & sweet view in Karyl's hand.
Keeping the memories alive! Merry Christmas Amie!
I’m glad you enjoyed the not-quite Christmas story. Hope yours was festive and merry, Kathleen. Dying to know what you cooked!

So enjoyable, as always. Thank you for sharing your memories and family stories. Joyeuses fêtes et bonne année.
Et toi, aussi!
What a beautiful and also funny vivid scene.
Just that alone, a plumber in a tutu. Also red and white striped tights and leotard!
